Michael Bay directed the picture, which blends computer animation and live-action filmmaking. Steven Spielberg served as executive producer. A live-action Transformers film, it was produced by Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto, and is the first in the series.
Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf, is a teenager who becomes embroiled in a conflict between two groups of robots who can disguise themselves as ordinary technology, particularly automobiles.
