History behind DC
Founded in 1978, DC Comics, Inc. publishes comic books in the US. The publishing division of DC Entertainment, a Warner Bros. subsidiary founded in 1967. DC Comics is one of the largest and oldest American comic book companies, and produces material featuring numerous culturally iconic heroic characters including: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Shazam, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Cyborg, Robin/Nightwing, Batgirl, Supergirl, the Atom and Blue Beetle.
Batman had his début in Detective Comics, which is where the letters "DC" come from. First established on Fourth Avenue at 432, DC Comics has since moved to 480 Lexington Avenue, 909 Third Ave. 75 Rockefeller Plaza 666 Fifth Ave. and 1325 Avenue of the Americas in New York City However, DC Entertainment moved its headquarters from New York to Burbank, California in the year 2000.
Who owns company today?
In addition to the Justice League and Justice League Dark, the Legion of Super-Heroes and Suicide Squad are included, as are the Justice Society of America and Young Justice and the Teen Titans.
There are well-known supervillains in this universe, including Lex Luthor, the Joker, Catwoman, the Scarecrow, the Penguin, Cheetah, the Black Adam, the Riddler, Capt. Cold, Brainiac, Bizarro, Gorilla Grodd, General Zod, Sinestro, Darkseid, Ra's al Ghul, Doomsday, Harley Quinn, and Bane, to name a few.
Surprised with the present ownership of DC. In 1969, Kinney National Company acquired National Comics from National Comics, Inc. In the 1970s, Kinney owned the rights. It also owned stakes in a number of other firms, including Warner Bros.
